钟马田（Martyn Lloyd-Jones， 1899 – 1981）是20世纪英国著名的基督教领袖，是基督教界杰出的传道人，曾任近30年的英国伦敦威斯敏斯特礼拜堂（Westminster Chapel）牧师。钟马田不赞同葛培理（Billy Graham）在布道事工上与天主教合作，并拒绝与葛培理合作。
1963年，葛培理邀请钟马田担任第一届世界福音大会（the first Worldwide Congress on Evangelism）的主席，钟马田对葛培理说，如果葛培理停止在布道讲台上与自由派和天主教合作，布道团成员里不再有自由派和天主教人士，那么他愿意支持福音大会并乐于出任主席。
据报，葛培理和钟马田就此进行了3小时的会谈，葛培理不愿改变他的观点和作法，钟马田拒绝支持葛培理，对葛培理的事工不给予评说，也不同工。最终，钟马田与葛培理在事工上保持分离。（注：此段内容主要参考和译自 Dr. David Murray 的《Degrees of Separation》）
美国加州西敏神学院（Westminster Seminary California）第三任院长 W. Robert Godfrey 于2017年1月份发表一篇文章，题为《The Myth of Influence》，在这篇文章里说到葛培理在布道事工上长期与自由派和天主教人士合作所产生的负面影响。一些新教人士与天主教的合作，并没有改变天主教的教义，反而是天主教和自由派的思想更加广泛地侵入和渗透到新教里来。
Godfrey 在文末也提到了美国水晶教堂的舒乐（Robert Schuller）与葛培理在电视上的那段对话，Godfrey 说，葛培理听起来相当的自由派（Billy Graham sounded remarkably liberal ）。
葛培理牧师在这个对话里否认了福音的排他性，他认为不认识主耶稣的人，无论是来自穆斯林界，还是来自佛教界，或来自非信徒，他们也都可以得救。

Dr. Schuller said, “Tell me, what is the future of Christianity?”
Dr. Graham said, “I think there’s the body of Christ, which comes from all the Christian groups around the world, or outside the Christian groups. I think everybody that loves Christ or knows Christ, whether they’re conscious of it or not, they’re members of the body of Christ. And I don’t think that we’re going to see a great sweeping revival that will turn the whole world to Christ at any time.”
Further, he says, “God’s purpose for this age is to call out a people for His name, and that’s what God is doing today. He’s calling people out of the world for His name. Whether they come from the Muslim world, or the Buddhist world, or the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the body of Christ because they’ve been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus, but they know in their hearts that they need something that they don’t have and they turn to the only light they have, and I think they’re saved, and they’re going to be with us in heaven.”
Dr. Schuller responded, “What I hear you saying is that it’s possible for Jesus Christ to come into a human heart, and soul, and life, even if they’ve been born in darkness, and have never heard, and never had exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you’re saying?”
Dr. Graham: “Yes, it is, because I believe that. I’ve met people in various parts of the world in tribal situations. They have never seen a Bible or heard about a Bible, have never heard of Jesus, but they’ve believed in their hearts that there is a God, and they’ve tried to live a life that was quite apart from the surrounding community in which they lived.”
Dr. Schuller: “This is fantastic. I’m so thrilled to hear you say that. There is a wideness in God’s mercy.”
Dr. Graham: “There is, there certainly is.”

Is that a correct interpretation of what you’re saying?” 这句话没有错。有很多这样的见证。很多穆斯林。从来没有听过福音，也没有读过圣经，但是耶稣基督亲自在他们心里显现。你各种不同的方式。让他们接受耶稣基督为救主。
我们自己能信主也是，并不是简单的因为我们听到福音的那个时候 听了牧师的，听了讲道，或某个人给我们传福音，而是因为神早已经在我们心里做工了。圣灵在我们还是罪人的时候已经为我们祷告了。同样圣灵也在很多穆斯林信徒、佛教信徒、无神论者心里作工，这是无法否认的

那我们就不要传福音了。世界上还有很多人没有听过福音，你已经断言他们不可能得救。看来你的工作就只是等待主再来或作审判官，判定这个是否得救，那个是否异端吗？
当然我觉得你这是口误，不过漏洞太大了。

看经文：「要报应那不认识神和那不听从我主耶稣福音的人。」（帖撒罗尼迦后书1:8节） 没听过福音的人会认识神？会听从福音？

任何人在他的一生当中，无论是行为或者是言语，如果较真儿的话，都会找到他违背圣经的地方。包括中马田牧师，包括麦克阿瑟牧师，包括葛培理牧师，包括所有除耶稣基督以外，能称作人的。
